2009 Hurricane Season

Well we are now officially into day 2 of the Atlantic hurricane season and (even though we have already seen a tropical depression) this year could be busy but at least has the potential to see a reduction in storm activity. Here is what the National Hurricane Center is predicting:

- 9 to 14 Named Storms
- 4 to 7 Hurricanes
- 1 to 3 Major Hurricanes

So why the possible reduction in activity? Well there are a number of contributing factors. A developing El Nino could knock down the number of storms (still too early to call) and cooler waters in the eastern tropical Atlantic could also be a big help. Cooler water means less fuel for these storms to develop. Again it’s still too early to be sure how the season will play out but it’s always fun to see if your name shows up on the list. So here are the list of names issued for the 2009 season:

1)Ana
