Golf Weather

After a very “humbling” round of golf yesterday at the Corus golf tournament I decided it’s time to take a lesson. Why? Well, aside from the fact that I am a horrible golfer, tomorrow is a pretty big day for me. Tomorrow I get the chance to golf along side a broadcasting legend, legendary weatherman Dave Devall. Very cool! This is a hero of mine and I couldn’t be more excited. But here’s the problem…apparently he can golf really well. Me? Not so much. So today I plan on getting some tips from Kim and Gerry who are pros at Liftlock Golf Club. Hopefully they’ll be able to straighten me out and at least improve my drive.

Now tomorrow’s opportunity for me comes courtesy of the Lakefield Animal Welfare Society who are holding their annual tournament at Katchawano Golf Club tomorrow. Please check out their website at http://www.lakefieldanimalwelfare.org/ for details on how you can help out this great organization.

As for the weather tomorrow…well it looks like a good chance for showers but I’m not ruling out a sunny break or two. Hey, you never know. It was supposed to rain today and that system tracked well south of us. Let’s cross our fingers and hope for a break tomorrow. Considering Dave Devall will be there, even if it does rain I’ll finally get a chance to blame the weather guy.

Umbrella Time!

Yesterday we were hoping to “steal” one more sunny day this week on Wednesday…but that no longer looks to be the case. The latest GFS numerical forecast run (seen to the left) shows the possibility of showers tomorrow afternoon. This was that system I was hoping would hold off until Thursday. Yesterday it looked promising but today, not so much. As that high slides east the door is open for that area of low pressure to push in and spark up some activity. Oshawa will see the activity earlier tomorrow than Peterborough (thundershowers are possible for the Durham region) then eventually the system looks to push in to Bancroft and Haliburton late in the day. To sum up tomorrow, expect maybe a sunny start with increasing cloudiness into the afternoon and then a few showers (maybe thundershowers) to fire up not long after. The rain most likely sticks with us Thursday so I apologize now to all of the golfers taking part in our Corus Entertainment 2009 Golf Tournament with CHEX, The Wolf and KRUZ-FM. I’ll be getting wet with you on the links so lets all cross our fingers and hope Mother Nature gives us a break.
