Hot coffee and a cool night.

Well today is a big day at Tim Horton's...CAMP DAY! Get your 'double double' today and feel good about sending some deserving kids to camp. Our new sports guy Tyler Calver and myself will be serving coffee at the Monaghan/Lansdowne location from 1pm - 2pm. (Please be patient...service may be a little slow). You may want to order up a hot beverage because some cool weather is on the way...

Today the high is 4 degrees off the seasonal average and tonight will be chilly. Expect a low of 4 degrees in Peterborough (we should be around 10) and cooler to the north. After a few possible showers in Bancroft today the sky will clear and the temperature will drop to a possible low of 0. With clear skies there is no cloud blanket (clouds do act like a blanket) to trap in the sun's energy we gained during the day. Soil is bad at storing energy. It literally radiates back to space. So a Frost Warning has been issued for Bancroft and Haliburton tonight from Environment Canada. Here in Peterborough there is a chance for frost (depending on the low) but as you head south toward the lake Port Hope and Cobourg will be just fine. That lake is deep and therefore stores solar energy a lot better than soil. The lake keeps you warmer in the overnight. To be safe, I would cover up the garden tonight in the north. See you at 6pm!
