Saturday?

Saturday. The day we all long for. The day that we hold our breaths and collectively hope for great weather. No matter the time of year, Saturday is by far the day that weather matters most and this weekend is a great example why that is. A bunch of events have been planned. Busker Fest is on in Cobourg, Blues Fest in Young’s Point and of course the Dragon Boat Festival is on here in Peterborough.

A great way to get an idea of what the weather is going to be like is to look at some forecasting models. These models are literally computer programs that simulate the atmosphere. But that’s the problem. Although they do a great job…it is just a simulation and the real Mother Nature is always full of surprises. That is why these numerical models don’t always agree with one another. That’s why Saturday’s Forecast is uncertain.

Looking at the latest GFS run some late day showers are possible on Saturday (as seen in the pic). The latest NAM run (although not shown) shows a very similar picture only early in the day. Both agree that we’ll see a little rain…they just don’t agree as to when we’ll see it. The Canadian model shows the possibility of showers as well but all three show that some sunshine can also be expected…so it’s not all bad. Overall…the weekend still looks promising.
